BIT Global Partner Week kicks off

The Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) Global Partners Week was kicked off on Oct 21 at the Yangtze Delta Region Academy of BIT in Jiaxing, Jiangsu province. The event was themed "From Dialogue to Action: Forging Tangible Partnerships".

Over 90 guests from 49 overseas partner universities and institutions across 31 countries and regions participated in the event.

Zhang Jun, secretary of the CPC BIT Committee, warmly welcomed the guests on behalf of the university and highlighted BIT's 85-year journey of serving national strategies and its dedication to innovation and talent cultivation. Zhang emphasized that "openness and inclusivity" are central to BIT's educational philosophy and encouraged young people to enhance understanding and build friendships through cross-cultural exchanges, thereby becoming "ambassadors" for technological progress and intercultural dialogue.

Óscar García Suárez, president of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in Spain, noted the strong, longstanding collaboration between the UPM and BIT. He highlighted the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on education and society, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration for the development of universities and their communities. Future collaboration will focus on fostering students' creativity and empathy, balancing technological advancement with humanistic values.

During the event, BIT unveiled several offices, including the China-Uzbekistan Joint Laboratory of Intelligent Electric Vehicle, the relocated BIT-BMSTU Joint School at the Zhuhai campus in South China’s Guangdong province, the Dubai Office of BIT and the China Office of the University of Dubai. Additionally, the Global University Alliance for Outer Space Policy and Law Education was established.

Meanwhile, BIT signed cooperation agreements with eight overseas universities including Khalifa University in the UAE, the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers in Uzbekistan, the University of Auckland in New Zealand, the University of Dubai in the UAE, the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Russia, the Universidad de La Habana in Cuba, Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, and the University of Barcelona in Spain. This initiative aims to deepen and solidify collaboration in the areas of research, teaching, innovation, and cultural exchange.

In addition, BIT signed an inter-university cooperation memorandum with the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers. Both sides will focus on substantial cooperation in areas such as intelligent electric vehicles and student exchange, working together to explore new opportunities for collaboration in science and education.

This BIT Global Partners Week was held in conjunction with the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals. As one of the host universities for this year's conference, BIT meticulously organized and arranged the event, achieving coordinated activities across Shanghai, Beijing, Jiaxing, and Zhuhai, advancing international scientific research cooperation, joint student training, and inter-university exchanges to a higher level.
